Doing yoga is a great way to exercise. Yoga can be done in a class in a yoga studio or gym, or you can do it alone in the privacy of your home. All you need is enough space to stretch out and a TV close by so that you can watch the instructional DVD as you go through the routine.
Choosing a good Yoga program may take some trial and error because while your friend might enjoy and recommend their favorite yoga DVD, that program might not be to your liking or on your level.
If you are a beginner, you’ll want to choose a program that is designed for beginners.
You may want to start with a program that is about 45 minutes. When you are first starting out a full 60 minute routine might be too tiring.
There are many types of yoga and each has its own Sanskrit name. If you have taken a class that you enjoy, find out what type of yoga it was, such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Iyengar and find a DVD that uses that style of yoga.
