While most of us may associate exercise with weight loss and other physical health benefits, it also offers some emotional health benefits as well.
Life is full of stress, people battle anxiety and depression and other emotional stresses. But when we work out we feel a flood of positive feelings that just make you feel good.
When you exercise you feel good about yourself. You feel stronger, confident and in good shape. These good feelings can give a boost to your energy levels that can help you to manage the challenges of your daily life.
Exercise increases cardiovascular fitness, which has the effect of helping you to sleep better. People who sleep better tend to feel better emotionally, and when we feel better we are more likely to stick with our exercise program.
Some researchers have said that exercise only makes us feel better because we believe it should, making it somewhat of a placebo effect, but if it works so well why question it?
