When you are choosing equipment for your home gym you’ll want to start with some basic pieces first and then move up to more advanced pieces.
You might want to first look in your local classified ads and yard sales for equipment that your neighbors are getting rid of. Be sure to inspect it carefully before your buy it, but it just might be in fine shape.
A home gym should have equipment for strength training and cardio workout equipment. For strength training you can start with a set of free weights, or you can purchase an elaborate weight training machine with many different settings. For a good cardio workout at home you will want a treadmill, a stationary bicycle, a stair climbing machine, or a rowing machine.
So, think about your fitness goals and buy what you can afford and have space for, but the important issue is that you get started and stick with it. Having a gym at home is a great convenience and it will help to eliminate many of the excuses that people make about not having time to get to the gym.
