Hiring a Personal Trainer

Because personal trainers are not required to have any sort of credentials in order to do their work, you really need to research prospective trainers before you plunk down your cash.

Talk to friends, call the local gyms and look in the local newspaper for personal trainers. Ask if they have credentials from the American Council on Exercise, or the American College of Sports medicine, and ask for references that you can call and get testimonials from.

Meet with them for a trial session before you agree to buy a big package of sessions to make sure that you can get along with the trainer, that you agree with their philosophy and approach and if they seem to have a real interest in helping you to reach your fitness goals.

When you have found a trainer that you can work with, youll want to carve out some time in your schedule when you can work out consistently. Work with your trainer to design a fitness plan that will meet your needs and that will keep you motivated to reach your goals.
