Each of us is unique so what gets me motivated to exercise might not necessarily inspire you at all. If we don’t have the right motivation in place, then it can be difficult to stick with an exercise routine. So, take a moment and think about what would motivate you to stick with your routine. Is it some kind of reward? Is it simply the satisfaction that you will get when you have reached your goal? Is it the feeling of vibrant good health and well being that comes from exercise?

Its time to get creative and think of some things that will help you to stick with it when the going gets tough and you just want to quit. Get out a piece of paper and a pencil and jot down the reasons for exercising in the first place. Your reasons why are going to be what keeps you on track with your program. Does the thought of your children having to bury you before your time because you died of a preventable disease, or the thought of your high school classmates seeing you looking much heavier than you did back in the day, or the thought of your spouse no longer feeling attracted to you because you have let yourself go do these things stir something in you to make the necessary changes in your life? If not, find out what does stir you up and get moving.
